A shot in the arm for Arunachal football

NEW DELHI, Sept 09: Football in Arunachal Pradesh got a shot in the arm with Reading FC (Reading Football Club) of UK expressing keen interest to explore the football potential and personally groom the promising football players of the state.

A four-member delegation from UK today called on Chief Minister Nabam Tuki at his New Delhi office and had a detailed discussion on development of the game in the Northeastern State. Tuki informed the delegation of the immense raw talent available in the youths of the state and their passion for the game.

“Football is the favorite game in every nook and corner of my state. Talent and passion are immeasurable. We just need proper guidance, training and exposure and I can assure you of world class players,” the Chief Minister, a die-hard fan and player of the game, said.

The Reading FC members expressed desire to do a talent search in the state and take under their umbrella sub-junior level players. Selected players would be then groomed at the highest level at Reading FC football academy in UK.

According to Reading FC CEO Nogel Howe, the Club will send two coaches to Arunachal Pradesh for preliminary assessment immediately at their own cost.

However, while narrating future plans for Arunachal, he said if things work out, the Club will take on the onus of propagating and developing the game by placing its coaches permanently in the state.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Reading FC delegation for their interest in tapping talents from the state. While assuring all cooperation in this noble endeavor from his government, Tuki appreciated the offer to provide exposure to players from the state at the international level.

Tuki informed the delegation of the State Sports Policy adopted recently by his government and highlighted its finer aspects, which was commended by the premier European club. Meanwhile, the Reading FC delegation invited the Chief Minister to witness one of its games in the ongoing Barclay Premier League. Reading FC will be playing its next game on September 16 against Tottenham and then face Albion on September 22.

The delegation comprised of, besides Howe, Reading FC Director Christopher Samuel, President, Friends of Arunachal, UK, Alan Hitchins and Reading FC Advisor Tomo Nomuk, a native of Arunachal, who was instrumental in facilitating the meeting.

 

 

Governor calls for disturbance-free environment in all developmental project sites

ITANAGAR, Sept 09: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh General (Retd) J. J. Singh has emphasized on  interruption and disturbance free environment in all the developmental project sites in the state and called upon the opinion makers and community leaders to create conducive atmosphere in those sites so that projects are completed in time.

The Governor, who was briefed on the progress of work of the Adventure Tourism Camping destination at Jote-Poma, near here stated that timely and proper implementation of any project will be beneficial for the State and also for the local community.

The Governor has always been advocating for development of tourism potentials of the state by creating upgraded tourism amenities within and outside the State.

Expressing his happiness over the pace of the project work, the Governor, who is well aware of the Jote-Poma area, cautioned against any disturbance to the green surroundings around the construction site.

Tourism Secretary Sonam Chombay, who is also the Director (Public Private Partnership and Project monitoring Unit) apprised the Governor on the Adventure Tourism Project at Raj Bhavan on September 7. He said that the Rs. 3.87 crore project, which commenced on September 25, 2010, once completed will have a cafeteria, three cottages, picnic hut, Children Park, parking and toilet facilities.

The Tourism Secretary informed that works on security fencing and protection wall are completed. 90% of the cafeteria and cottages and 80% of the picnic hut and utility facilities are also completed. Works of CC footpath, Children Park and landscaping are in progress. He further informed that 80% of total earmarked fund has been released.

It may be mentioned here that the Governor General Singh laid the foundation stone of the Adventure Camping destination site on August 6, 2010 in presence of the then Tourism Minister Jarbom Gamlin, local MLA and Parliamentary Secretaries Nabam Rebia and Gojen Gadi.  Chief Secretary Tabom Bam, the then Tourism Secretary Bandana Deori, senior government officers, Tour Operators, Panchayat leaders, besides villagers from Jote, Poma and adjoining villages attended the function. Prominent social reformer dies

ITANAGAR, Sept 09: One of the renowned figure of Nyishi community and head gaon burah of Rach village under Sagalee area, Taba Doria passed away this evening after a prolonged illness. The nonagenarian leader who was 95 years old at the time of death has been suffering from multiple age-old related diseases for last few months. Late Doria is the father of former Sagalee constituency MLA Taba Hania, who is equally popular leader as his late father.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday morning at Rach village, the ancestral village of late Doria.  He was recipient of many awards for his outstanding contribution in the field of social development. He is considered to be pioneer in Nyishi community for embracing education and social development during NEFA days. He received a commendation certificate for social work in the year 1977 from then Lieutenant Governor of NEFA.  He was also awarded as the best farmer of Papum Pare (Horticulture) in 2005 and in the same year he also received appreciation letter for outstanding performance in the field of judicial/social work on auspicious occasion of Republic day at Sagalee.

Late Doria was expert in Nyishi customary law and also played a crucial role in bringing development and education in the Sagalee area. He was one of first persons to develop contacts with outside world when development started in Sagalee area. He was oldest serving gaon burah of Papum Pare district.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and the rank and file of Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) have expressed deep shock at the passing away of Taba Doria. A prominent social worker, orator par excellence and expert in customary laws, the nonagenarian was loved by one and all for his down to earth disposition, Tuki said in his condolence message, adding that he would be always remembered for his invaluable contributions to the society. Doria was Tuki’s maternal uncle.

An ASM for two terms and the head gaon budha till his death, he was respected by one and all, Tuki recalled while joining the Congress family in conveying condolences to the bereaved family and praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

His death is an irreparable loss for the party as Doria was a great Congress lover, APCC general secretary TC Tok said in the condolence message.  

“He was a renowned social reformer, expert in Nyishi customary laws and a fatherly figure of Sagalee area respected by all,” Sagalee ZPM Abraham K Techi said while expressing deep shock over passing away of Doria. “It would be very difficult to filled the vacuum created by his death, Abraham said.

Meanwhile, Tebw Lappa Welfare society has expressed sadness over passing away of one of the senior clan member.  In a release society while remembering the immense contribution made by late Doria towards upliftment of Nyishi community hope that young generation of Nyishi community will always remember him for his contributions.

 

 

 

RBI raises 3 Commercial rubber nurseries

Siang belt achieves milestone in rubber production

RUKSIN, Sept 09: The Rubber Board of India (RBI) has achieved a milestone by bringing 7,000 ha of land under rubber cultivation under Ruksin rubber field station, which also included parts of West Siang and Lower Dibang Valley district.

The Ruksin rubber field station set up by RBI under its Tezpur regional office initially targeted 672 hectares plantation including three Siang districts. As a result, rubber plantations are in progress on the hills of East Siang, West Siang, Lower Subansiri and Lower Dibang Valley districts along the foothills.

Official sources said that rubber plants in 1,200 hectares of land at Ngorlung, Niglok, Bilat, Nari, Telam, Seren and Dipa in East Siang district have matured, while plantation at bordering Assam under the field station is on progress. The RBI also developed 3 “Commercial Nurseries” in the region to meet the sapling demands of the local farmers. Currently, an average of 62-65 ton of rubber is produced annually from these rubber fields which are supplied to a Guwahati based marketing agency.

Sources further informed that the NE states, including Arunachal, have achieved rubber plantation in 4.50 lakh hectares, which is covering 25 percent of the total land. About 5 percent of the India’s rubber production is produced from the NE states, which is expected to rise up to 50 percent in the coming years. Cost of planting materials in other production activities are being reimbursed to the growers and financial assistant ranging from Rs 35,00 to Rs 42.500 has been given to the news planters in a form of subsidy. The RBI expects to achieve a highest point of rubber production within 2025.

Cultivation of rubber plant is very easy with low maintenance cost, Additional Rubber Production Commissioner of Guwahati Zonal office, K.G. Mohanan, who along with Parliamentary Secretary for Trade & Commerce; Phosum Khimhun, visited the area early this year, said. He had suggested the state government for funding in plantation activities and infrastructure development of the ‘Rubber Producer Societies’ under the state government’s schemes.

It is pertaining to mention here that Regional Manager (RBI), M P Monilal visited the plantation sites of East Siang and other sites during the early part of 2008 to encourage rubber cultivation.

The trend of growing of rubber in Arunachal is expected to cross 10,000 hectare mark during 2011-12 registering a growth of almost 90 percent in area coverage as compared to the year 2010-11. The percentage share of Arunachal in area coverage was negligible during 1990-91 but in 2009-10, it increased up to 0.17 pc (12000 Ha.) and production share has also been increases up to 0.02 percent this year.

 

 

 

Bamboosa Library gets a new RRRLF Children’s Book Corner

ITANAGAR, Sept 09:  The Dept of Public Libraries is all ready to support and strengthen the library movement to reach to the remote corners of Lohit and Anjaw. The NGO groups and book lovers must make the best of the many schemes available for libraries, said Tarak Mize, Dy Director, Public Libraries, Itanagar as he declared open the Children’s Book Corner of Raja Rammohan Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata (RRRLF) at Bamboosa Library, Tezu, the first of such kind in eastern Arunachal and the second in the entire state.

Appreciating the VT-AWIC Youth library activists for their spirited reading campaign programmes for the last 5 years, he urged them to keep up their reading and writing activities. Lamenting the steep fall in the spirit of reading among the Arunachalee young people in  the recent times, he reminded them that their future lies only in reading. “You have to grow outside the textbooks and parents and teachers must take interest in the Library movement,” he said.

Mize read out the message of benediction to the Lohit youth Library readers from the Director, J. Borang, who was not able to attend the function due to indisposition. He also presented to the libraries a set of 30 copies of “General Knowledge of Arunachal” authored by him.

KN Dey, RRRLF Coordinator at the Library directorate, Itanagar elaborated on the various schemes and programmes available under Raja Rammohan Roy Library Foundation, (RRRLF) Kolkata, a unit of the central Govt, to make libraries attractive and cater to even neo-literates and physically challenged people. He informed that RRRLF has already provided 11 library buildings in the state.

“Though the NGO-run libraries are attractive and far more reader-friendly than the Govt. libraries, they will be able to grow and serve the people only when the educated people come forward to strengthen their functioning.”

Delivering the presidential address on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner, Lohit, EAC G K Paul Chaudhury reminded the parents and teachers of the dangerous trend of declining reading habits in Lohit, and urged them to inculcate a love of books in the young from early days. He also warmly applauded the dedicated efforts of the youth library activists, as an act of selfless service.

“Let each Mishmi home have its own private library!”  This was the appeal of Bapenlu Kri, UPO, Anjaw and a patron of Bamboosa Library, as she highlighted the growth of the youth libraries in spreading the joy of reading among the common people, esp, the Govt school students.

Speaking on behalf of DL&IO, Lohit,  L. Raatan, Jr. Librarian, District library Tezu, gave an account of the history of public libraries in Lohit & Anjaw and their contribution to the educational development of the youth of the district since 1950s.

The audience cheered heartily as Kr. Ashish Singh, the very first reader of Bamboosa Library  read out a humorous story on reading habits and Kr. Abhinav Dwivedi, and Ms. Manisha Halai,  shared touching experiences of their association with Bamboosa and APNE libraries.  

Earlier, the Coordinator, VT-AWIC Youth Library Network, outlined the growth of the youth libraries from a humble tenement into a vibrant movement, thanks to the generous patronage of the DCs of Lohit, public leaders, parents, teachers as well as patrons from all over India and abroad, who took pains to contribute in cash and kind. Etalo mega, I/c, Bamboosa Library read out the benedictory messages received from within the country and from England, USA and Singapore.

The highlight of the celebrations was a scintillating display of skits, poetry recitations and story reading by reader-activists from Bamboosa, Police Welfare and CALSOM libraries of Tezu and APNE Library, Wakro. The skit “Kayum Sa” (the Black Boy) in Mishmi language on George Washington Carver, a great negro agric scientist by APNE Library, Wakro was a thrilling experience for the audience with a brilliant show by Priya Ngi as Carver. Equally impressive was the English skit “Friendship” on King Arthur from British history which brought out the expertise of the Bamboosa Library activists in handling various roles. This was followed by endearing poetry recitations by the reader activists ( ‘Welcome, rain..’ by CALSOM, “Ibn Batuta” by Police Welfare and “Rainbow” by Bamboosa)  to conclude with the famous “You read to me, I’ll read to you” by APNE Library, Wakro.

Sokhep Kri, State Editor (Gazetteers) Itanagar, and the Itanagar Convener of the Lohit Youth Library Movement, thanked the RRRLF Kolkata, the Dept of Public Libraries, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, and all the patrons, well-wishers and the district administration for their support and encouragement since inception of Bamboosa Library; and specially Tezu MLA Karikho Kri, Surajmal Jalan Charitable Trust, Dibrugarh and the DCs and DDSEs of Lohit and Anjaw, for support in conducting various activities under the reading campaign.

Later in the evening, Mize and team visited the RRRLF Children’s Book Corner at the Bamboosa Library and had active interactions with readers, volunteers, parents and teachers.

 

 

State Level Science Fest

ITANAGAR, Sept 09: The three days State Level Science Festival was formally inaugurated by Education Minister Bosiram Siram yesterday at State Bharat Scouts and Guides Complex, Polo Colony, Naharlagun.

Altogether, 175 students  from schools run under the Arunachal Siksha Vikash Samity (ASVS) are participating in Science Exhibition, Science Seminar, Science Quiz, Science Experimentation and Science Aptitude tests during the fest. Addressing the inaugural function Siram lauded the untiring efforts of ASVS for promoting quality education in the state.

He also appreciated the hard works rendered by the teaching communities and management of the ASVS and added that education is the process by which we conserve valuable elements in our culture.

The Minister also advising the participating students said wining in the events is not much important but participation in such events matters most which motivates us to improve the quality of our life.

Further, briefing about the state government’s education policies he said participation of these organizations have become essential in creating conducive atmosphere for the development of education in true spirit and quality Human Resource development.

While responding to a Memorandum submitted on the occasion by ASVS Joint Secretary Tadar Tania, the Minister assured a computer education centre at Abotani Vidya Niketan Secondary school under the relevant central scheme. He also assured to look into the other demands of the samiti and donated Rs 20,000 to fest organizer.

Earlier the Siram inaugurated the science exhibition and congratulated the participating students from across the state.

The Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan, Vigyan Pramukh, NE States, Tapan Sarma also briefed about the motive of organizing state level Science Fest. He informed the winners of the state level competition would go for NE regional level fest and National level fest.

The General Secretary, ASVS, Nabam Ruja highlighted the activities of ASVS and the State level Science fest programme organized under the ASVS in every academic year.

 

 

New colony foundation stone laid

Aalo, Sept 09: Yodi Momen Colony has got the recognition from district administration with deputy commissioner Marnya Ete unveiling the foundation stone of the colony yesterday.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion of declaration of the colony, the DC said that formation of committees at various colonies assumes utmost importance to curb unwanted elements at their level to help the district administration and hinted on convening a meeting of representatives of all colonies to contain any disturbing elements detrimental to peace.

Pointing towards dwindling academic graph and spirit of competitiveness among the young generation of the district, he said that cultural extravaganzas and amusements are also part of our life but parents should give more stress on academic interests of their children to produce intellectuals and good citizen for our society. Though the district administration cannot give tall promises to undertake welfare activities of the colony but all possible help and assistance will be provided on need base, he said.

Aalo ADC Moki Loyi and President Donyi Polo & Indigenous Faith, Pakjum Ete also dwelt at length on unity and cooperation among the colony dwellers.

Kirba Sora, EE PHED Yinkiong, Bejum Ado Secy, Kard Karbak, President and Bomge Sora disclosed that the need for a separate colony was necessitated due to growth in population and to initiate welfare measures as a recognized colony. They pointed out the problems faced by the colony for the last 12 years pertaining to electricity, community hall, proper drainage system and erosions in the colony and appealed concerned departments to address the woes at their level. Fish seeds released at Sipit river

AALO, Sept 9: Fish seeds consisting of 15,000 Indian Major Carp and Common Carp were released at Sipit river of Gette village of Upper Siang district  yesterday by Talo Jerang, EAC, Yingkiong amidst huge gathering of officers, GBS and public leaders. It was done under “River Ranching Programme” initiated by the Directorate of Fishery GoAP aiming at augmenting fish population in rivers.

While welcoming the gathering K. Chisi, DFDO explained the objective and importance of river ranching and informed that the programme was 1st of its kind in the district and 2nd in the state. Jerang urged the village Kebang to preserve fish population and make Sipit a model river with abundant fish for attracting tourists. He also explained how the traditional fishing methods were eco-friendly and conducive to fish preservation but deplored present trend of depleting rivers in the name of traditional practice by adopting various objectionable methods. He also distributed 3 units of fishing gears to progressive fish farmers of the village under “Fish Farmer Development Agency” programme.

3rd Yaja Waii Memorial T20 Cricket Tourney in Nov

ITANAGAR, Sept 09: The third Yaja Waii Memorial state level T20 Cricket Tournament will begin from the second week of November,  informed East Kameng District Sports Officer Karbia Dodum today.

The cash prize for the winner would be enhanced from Rs 2 lakhs to Rs 5 lakhs and runners up from Rs.1 lakh to Rs 2 lakhs. The man of the series would be given a motorcycle, Dodum, also the chairman of the organizing committee informed.

A team from each district with recommendation from the concern deputy commissioner and district sport officer can participate in the tourney. The semi finalist of second edition would be allowed to participate, he added.

 

Block level meeting on PYKKA held

ITANAGAR, Sept 09: A block level meeting of Chayangtajo, Bameng West and Papu Valley East was held on September six last for the implementation of  One Time Seed Capital Grant under Panchayat Yuva Krida aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA), for infrastructural development at village level.

Chairing the meeting, East Kameng District Sports Officer Karbia Dodum informed that the scheme will be implemented in four blocks.  Dodum, who also is the DSO in-charge of West Kameng, further stated that the same scheme will also be implemented at Singchung and Thrizino in the West Kameng.

 

International literacy day

ITANAGAR, Sept 09: State Resource Centre Arunachal Pradesh (SRCAP) observed the International Literacy Day at Telam Gram Panchayat under Nari Block of East Siang district.

Nilav J Gohain, Assistant Director, SRCAP dwelt at length on the importance of being literate and motivated the adult learners.  He also highlighted the importance of observing International Literacy Day.

ASM Komni Nyodu also encouraged the effort and assured possible support to SRCAP in carrying out their literacy activities.

Gram Panchayat members and leaders, adult learners and local villagers attended the programme.

 

DSA football tournament in memory of Jumke Bagra from Sep 20

ITANAGAR, Sept 09: The 29th DSA football tournament, 2012 organized under the banner of the West Siang District Sports Association (DSA) in memory of Jumke Bagra will be held at Aalo General Ground from September 20.

All the 16 participating teams are divided into four pools of four,defending champion Darka YC will meet Kabu SC in the opener while the final would be played on October 8.

The participating teams are, (Pool A) Darka YC, Kabu SC, ADC Yomcha, R2 Tadin, (Pool B), KFC, ADC Basar, Memo FC, JBC, (Pool C) BPSC, ADC Mechukha, DPGC, ADC Rumgong, (Pool D) Pobdi SC, ADC Kamba, Kombo Bodin, Bene SC.

 

Training on scientific cultivation of black gram

ITANAGAR, Sept 09: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Changlang conducted training on ‘Scientific cultivation of Black gram’ for farmers in Longtom village of Changlang district on September 7 and 8. Altogether 28 farmers attended the training programme.

The subject matter specialist (agronomy) explained and educated the farmers about scientific cultivation of the crop.

A farmer-scientist interaction session was also held where in the farmers got their doubts clarified.

 

Panchayati Raj convention

ITANAGAR, Sept 09: The state government has planned to organize 2 days massive convention on Panchayati Raj at the IG Park here on October 20 and 21.

The convention to be attended by Union Minister for PR & Tribal Affairs KC Deo, Union Minister for RD Jairam Ramesh and Union Minister of State for Social Welfare & Child Development Krishna Tirath, would discuss on main agenda, Devolution of Power to the PRIs in the state.  

About 10,000 Panchayat members from all over the State from Zilla Parishad, Anchal Samiti and Gram Panchayat levels are likely to participate in the convention.   

 

Foundation day

ITANAGAR, Sept 09: Kargu Gamgi Naharlagun-Nirjuli observed the 5th Foundation Day at its E-Sector Prayer Centre today.

Dagmo Jini, President Kargu Gamgi Naharlagun-Nirjuli released Donyi Polo Kargu Gamgi book authored by Gumyir Taba (Kato) on the occasion.

Tama Mindo, renowned local Galo Priest, appealed  for preservation and promotion of indigenous faith and culture.

Dr. Tai Nyori, former President, Toni Koyu, former IFCSAP president, and Jomnya Siram also spoke on the occasion.

Emin Rumi, General Secretary, highlighted the various achievements of the Kargu Gamgi in the last one year.

 

Solung celebrated at Namsai

ITANAGAR, Sept 09: The Adi community of Namsai celebrated Solung festival with traditional fervour at Namsai Solung-Mopin ground yesterday.

Joining the celebration, Minister for PWD, Finance and Planning Chowna Mein said that festivals mirror the culture of the people and reflect the best aspects of their lives. Appreciating the Adi members of Namsai area for organizing the festival in a befitting manner, Mein emphasized on involvement of participants from entire district.

Local MLA, Nang Sati Mein while extending festival greetings to everybody appreciated the Adi people for jealously guarding their own culture and tradition. She extorted all present to be hard working, progressive thinking and to promote social and communal harmony.

Festival celebration committee president Gonong Pertin stressed on blend of tradition with modernity for development.

Release of  an audio album called ‘Lotong Appun’, display of traditional folk dance, modern dance and melodious song were some of the main attractions of the day long programme.

On the occasion Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) felicitated meritorious Adi student of Lohit district.

The festival was attended by  all officers and prominent public leader of Namsai area.

Global Competitive Index

India’s ranking declined by three places to 59th position in the Global Competitiveness Index 2012-2013 of the World Economic Forum (WEF), owing to “disappointing performance” in the basic factors underpinning competitiveness.

The country, which was once ahead of Brazil and South Africa, now trails them by some 10 places and lags behind China by a margin of 30 positions.

The global list was topped by Switzerland for the fourth consecutive year, followed by Singapore in second position and Finland in third position, which overtook Sweden (4th).

Among the top ten competitive countries, the Netherlands was ranked in the 5th place, followed by Germany (6th), the United States (7th) and United Kingdom (8th), Hong Kong (9th) and Japan (10th).

“India continues to be penalised for its disappointing performance in the areas considered to be the basic factors underpinning competitiveness,”  the news agency PTI said while quoting the report.

The report noted that India’s infrastructure is largely “insufficient” and “ill-adapted” to the needs of the economy. Moreover the country also faces problem areas such as corruption and bureaucracy.

WEF however, said that despite “challenges”, India does possess a number of strengths in the more advanced and complex drivers of competitiveness.

“India can rely on a fairly well developed and sophisticated financial market that can channel financial resources to good use, and it boasts reasonably sophisticated and innovative businesses,” WEF said.

It is a well known fact that all the parents in these modern days take care of their children in every possible way right from their birth to education till their proper establishment. They provide all type of comfort so that their children could excel in their academic career. I do agree that we should grant freedom of speech to be a good orator, freedom of expression to do away with shyness and freedom of education to be successful person in life, but the freedom of dress being enjoyed by the young women of present  days are beyond its limit. I do not mean that a dress code should be enacted especially for the young women and school going girls students but it looks good categorically when women wear cloth decently in their schools, colleges, working places and even in their personal life. In this direction, good steps have been taken up by the Government schools, but certain private schools are yet to see its ray. It is so awkward when young girls wear miniskirts. There is a general query that what would be atmosphere of that family and the institution where they live and learn.

What is generally observed that exposing a body parts has become a kind of fashion for today’s young generation which they adopted from the glamorous world like Cinemas and TV shows. Women could be more beautiful and attractive in their soft spoken, good manner and decent way of life. For some it might be a matter of pride to expose their body parts and thinks it as their birth rights, but it seems that these children are being swayed away by the modern storms which are blowing them away in to the jaws of death and destruction. But then what about we parents! Don’t we lead them to the snare by ignoring them? How could we lose our children’s life for the sake of a mere dress!

I agree that as parents our eyes are blindfolded and we do not see them in that sense as we are adapted to it since their birth, but what about the wolves and hyenas prowling around if a daughter is wearing a dress that attracts the sensitivity of the onlookers or a dress that is not acceptable to the Society ?

We come to know through media that many organizations including women welfare organizations are expressing anguish over molestation, rape, murder and other atrocities meted out to the weaker section of the society, especially the young generation. However, no one has pondered upon the causes behind it, whereas the cause and its solution lie in the hands of parents and the children themselves. Here, some may question how had that happened to my children though she was not used to it ? The answer is simple, it was victimized due to ignition created by another show off children. Today it has happened to theirs, tomorrow it may happen to yours. So why not the parents, brothers, uncles and aunts take up the responsibility to discourage the children from wearing such vulnerable dresses and impress upon them to dress and behave properly.

Lastly, an appeal is made to the women organizations and the associations to voice against such prevailing atmosphere that has penetrated deep into  our family and the society like a killer cancer and lay down necessary Dos and Do nots on dress  and also ban the sale of certain clothes not worthy to be worn by the young girls.

Pollution and twin capital city

Dear Editor,

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to put forward a big issue regarding the ratio of pollution and development in the capital complex.

Our capital is in such a condition these days that there is just a narrow gap between us and the pollution. It is accepted that greater development leads to greater pollution, but in our twin capital city, there is no balance between pollution and development and  pollution  is growing rapidly than development  process.

We can not only blame the authorities for the increasing polluted environment, people are also responsible for it. Management alone will not able to do anything without the support of people.  People of our town should equally shoulder responsibility to save environment and control pollution. It is our town, keep it clean.
